Southern Good Faith Fund is committed to helping working families keep more of their hard-earned dollars by offering free tax preparation services through its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. VITA, which is sponsored by IRS Stakeholder Partnerships Education and Communication (SPEC), provides free tax assistance and prepares U.S. federal tax returns for taxpayers with an annual earned income of $40,000 and below. Through the collaboration of SPEC and SGFF, training is provided to volunteers for IRS certification to ensure high quality tax preparation services.
In addition to helping low- to moderate-income taxpayers save money on tax preparation services, the VITA program is also a critical resource in helping to encourage personal asset building through tax incentives. Taxpayers interested in using VITA as a springboard to financial success are encouraged to use their refunds to save for college, buy a home, or start a business. Through partnerships with Delta Southern Bank, First Bank of the Delta, Elk Horn Bank and Trust, and Southern Financial Partners, Southern Good Faith Fund is proud to offer ten VITA sites throughout Southern Arkansas and portions of Mississippi.
